Why we need your help!
As a non-profit, charitable organization our philosophy is just because you can’t afford our programs does not mean you shouldn’t attend our programs. In 2010 the Northern Berkshire YMCA approved scholarships to 946 participants… a total of $127,000. With our campaign set at $40,000 for 2011, you can see that we do not stop fulfilling our mission. Your tax deductible donation goes directly to our community, giving everyone an equal opportunity for great YMCA programs.
In addition many of our programs could not continue without being subsidized with this campaign. Your tax deductible donation allows us to operate quality programming at affordable rates.
How Your “Y” Made A Difference
Youth Development
“We would like to thank the YMCA for the assistance our family received through the Reach out for Youth Program this past summer. Without the support of the YMCA our grandchildren would have missed out on the wonderful camp experience they received by attending Camp Abenaki. The girls still speak of the fun they had and the lasting friendships they made over the summer. The girls are hoping to have another fun filled summer at Camp Abenaki.” — Beth and Nick Mantello
Health Living
“After my husband was diagnosed with cancer, all our finances went to medical bills—the YMCA financial assistance enabled us to continue to come to the Y- my husband has been cancer free for 4 years-thank you Y” — Anonymous
Social Responsibility
“I am a single mother of 4 and without your (YMCA) financial aid I would not be able to afford to send my children to daycare so I can work” — Rebecca Dolle
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Where does the money go?
A. 100% of the funds raised through the Reach Out for Youth campaign will go directly to those who cannot afford to pay program or membership fees and provides funding for programs and services that require subsidy in order to cover costs of operating.
Q. Can I designate my gift to a program specific purpose?
A. Yes, the Y is interested in and equipped to meet the wishes of its supporters.
Q. Does my donation need to be at a certain level of giving?
A. Being a community based agency, that depends on the support from friends at all levels. $1000 helps 6 children attend one week of summer camp; $150 helps a child attend a one week of summer camp; $45 could help a child attend a youth sports program (7 weeks); $65 helps support a child with swim lessons (7 weeks).
